What's on Patrick's Mind

I just feel like I need to let out what's in my mind right now. I don't really know of any other place to write this but here on our blog so many of you may not even be interested. But I just wanted to let out my opinion on Apple's stance on the iPhone. I'm pretty disgusted with them right now. See let me break it down, Apple comes out with a sweet new phone that can do everything, but the truth is "everything" is not enough these days. Consumers want to be able to do "everything" and more. So we wait patiently for a new update or something to get another application thinking that Apple might surprise us and fill the iPhone screen with some more cool things and maybe get rid of the Stocks application. First update comes and only "fixes bugs." Next update comes and again only "fixes bugs." Then on a huge day for Apple, the day that they announce the new iPods they announce that they will be adding WiFi iTunes to the iPhone. Ok, that's pretty cool but for anyone who installed AppTapp and is taking advantage of all the cool third-party apps out there it's like, "Wow, big deal, we've been enjoying all these other things the whole time." Oh and another thing that is included in the new iPhone update: A new calculator icon. See that right there is like Apple is trying to make us laugh or something. They took 2 months to release the Wifi iTunes Store which should have came with the iPhone at launch and they updated the Calculator Icon. The whole time they are coming up with these lame updates there are people out there who are making these killer apps that I'm just not willing to let go of until Apple starts picking up the pace. I don't need a new calculator icon, all the icons on my iPhone have been changed and look great becuase of the SummerBoard application, and you know what, I can change them anytime I want. Sure Apple doesn't have to give us anything more, but they shouldn't be trying to block the developers out there who are making the iPhone worth buying. I think that these developers are helping sell iPhones. I read a story on Gizmodo in which they re-reviewed the iPhone and now that third-party apps won't work with the new update they changed their verdict to 'don't buy, wait." That's a big deal for Gizmodo to be throwing that out there for consumers to chew on. Is it worth it Apple? Developers are already creating amazing apps in only 2 months after the iPhone was released, I can't wait to see what will come in the future, if the future isn't dead already. The question here is: Which one would you rather have (left or right).

Go and Digg this story here, thanks!
